Video journalists using smartphones continue to gain traction worldwide, but the one-man-band concept has yet to largely displace two and three-person news crews shooting with traditional ENG cameras. VJs are still mostly deployed as first responders and freelancers. But now that video streaming has traditional, linear TV on the ropes, now that IP is horning in on SDI, it’s inevitable that IP-friendlier video journalism will eventually stamp out less mobile, less efficient, more expensive ENG-era newsgathering.
