Description
Social Media, Social Change
Social Media is a powerful tool that allows us to communicate more messages to more people, more quickly. Social justice initiatives like the #MeToo movement and #AllLivesMatter have made a huge impact in America and throughout the world. But how to do these messages get off the ground? How to do we build change from the ground up? We tell a story. Even one story has the potential to spark change. One person, one story told well can become the voices of a few who represent the whole. We see this in examples like Malala Youfsaza speaking out for education reform on behalf of millions of young women. When people feel connected, it gives them an opportunity to join the conversation and have their voices heard. To tell these stories and initiate social change, however, we must have the right tools and an understanding of how to use them. Tools like Facebook Live, Wirecast, YouTube and Instagram have far bigger potential when used to their full advantage. My job is to teach videographers how to use these tools to tell a story that is advantageous to their brands and gives marketers the chance to make a difference.
