David Touhey is President of Venues at Monumental Sports & Entertainment, overseeing facilities management at Capital One Arena (home of the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, and Georgetown University men’s basketball team), EagleBank Arena (home of the George Mason men’s and women’s basketball teams), Medstar Wizards Performance Center and Medstar Capitals Iceplex. Touhey also manages staff who support the Washington Mystics and Capital City Go-Go at St. Elizabeth’s Entertainment and Sports Arena.

In his role as President of Venues, Touhey oversees all aspects of facility operations, including booking, capital improvements, strategic planning, guest services, operations, box office, event production, information technology, communications, security, engineering, television and broadcast operations, cleaning and food service. Touhey is an International Association of Venue Managers certified venue executive.

Under Touhey’s leadership, Capital One Arena continuously ranks among the top 10 facilities in the country and top 20 worldwide for events hosted and attendance as tracked by industry publications, Pollstar, Venues Today and Billboard. During the summer of 2018 and 2019, Touhey led Phases I and II of a $70 million transformational renovation to Capital One Arena which included the latest in LED video technology, one of the largest 360-degree continuous video screens in sports and modernized concourses, suites and destination lounges throughout the building.

Touhey has been in Washington, D.C. since 2004 and prior to that served in a variety of roles in venue management across the country, including stints with Global Spectrum, the Knight International Center, and the University of Miami. Touhey began his career in venue management as a member of the event staff as a student at UMASS-Amherst studying Sport Management.
