Rich founded several technology companies, including VBrick Systems where he created the world's first video encoder appliance. He served on the board of the Internet Streaming Media Alliance, the MPEG Industry Forum, the Connecticut Tech Council, and is a board director for the Connecticut Educational Technology Commission.
