"Erica Ginsberg is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Docs In Progress (docsinprogress.org), a Washington DC-area nonprofit organization for documentary filmmakers of all experience levels to gain skills, confidence, and community through a variety of professional development programs, filmmaker services, and networking opportunities. The organization has been serving emerging and established documentary filmmakers in the Washington DC Metro area and beyond since 2004.

Erica is also a co-host of The D-Word (d-word.com), the world’s preeminent online community for documentary filmmakers. She has more than 25 years experience organizing professional development programs and networking events for media-makers through Docs In Progress, The D-Word, Women in Film and Video-DC, and the U.S. Department of State. She is also a documentary filmmaker who has produced CRUCIBLE OF WAR (about postwar life in the Balkans), co-produced/co-directed CREATIVE FEDS (about federal workers who moonlight as musicians), and is currently co-producing/co-directing CALIFORNIA USA (about contemporary rural America as seen from the perspective of people living in small towns called California).

She has been a NAMAC Creative Leadership Lab Fellow at Sundance, has been awarded an individual artist award twice from Prince George’s County Maryland, and has been a documentary juror at various film festivals including DC Shorts, the Cleveland International Film Festival, Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival, Dokufest (Kosovo), and the Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival (Germany). She holds an M.A. in Film and Video from American University and a B.A. in International Affairs from the George Washington University."
